Tobacco use: maternal smoking by SIMD quintile

Chart 1 (view chart) shows the percentage of women recorded as smoking during pregnancy in 2011 by Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) quintile. SIMD is the Scottish Government's official measure of area based multiple deprivation. A higher percentage of women were recorded as smoking during pregnancy in more deprived areas: 31.6% in the most deprived quintile compared to 6.0% in the least deprived quintile.
