Stroke: Risk factors
Risk factors for stroke include:
- high blood pressure
- high blood choresterol
- poor diet
- physical inactivity
- alcohol consumption above recommended limits

As Reported in the Scottish Health Survey 2014, Prevalence of CVD among those with a family history of heart disease or stroke before the age of 60 was around twice as high as for those with no family history (25%, compared with 13%). This difference was observed among both men and women.
