Multiple risk factors: policy context


Most policies tend to be developed to focus on specific diseases. Within certain disease areas like cardiovascular disease, there can be a recognition that a range of individual risk factors is important, and that combinations of risk factors may also be important. Work at the Scottish Executive Health Department on health improvement and inequalities is beginning to consider multiple risk factors and co-morbidity (multiple diseases) and the relationships between them.
