This profile has been compiled by staff at NHS Health Scotland in collaboration with the ISD Scotland and Communities Scotland as part of a major piece of work to produce health and well-being profiles for 66 communities across Scotland. These profiles are intended to inform service providers, planners, policy makers and the public about health issues at a local and national level. Specifically, we have designed each profile to:
- provide a detailed summary of health and health determinants across the community
- make local health information accessible to a wide audience
- draw attention to health inequalities
- highlight trends in key indicators (where this is possible).
If you would like more information about the data and trends contained in the profiles, please contact either David Walsh or Bruce Whyte.
The profile contains brief notes on definitions and sources but a more detailed document, Extended Notes on Community Profiles(278Kb), is also available.
Please note also that in order to provide electronic versions of the profiles on the web we have had to compromise on the quality of the pictures and maps by providing these as low resolution images.
