Chart 1 shows recent estimates of the proportion of the working age population that have at least 3 Highers. At a national level it is estimated that 57% of the working age population have at least 3 Highers. At a council level this statistic varies from 48.3% in Clackmannanshire to 76.7% in East Renfrewshire.

Chart 2 shows recent estimates of the proportions of working age adults who have no qualifications by council. Nationally it is estimated that 17% of working age adults have no qualifications. At a council level this figure varies from 9% in East Renfrewshire to 23% in East Ayrshire. North Lanarkshire, Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire all also contain relatively high percentages of working age adults without qualifications.
