Deaths: data introduction
These pages contain merely a small, limited, selection of charts on all-cause mortality. Please note, however, that examples of cause-specific mortality are contained within the relevant sections of the web site (e.g. coronary heart disease, , stroke, breast cancer etc).
Note also that more detailed international comparisons of all-cause and cause-specific mortality rates are available in the International Mortality Comparisons section of this site. The Scotland and European Health for All (HfA) Database can also be used to compare mortality across over 50 European countries (including the UK) for a range of causes.
Note finally that the main source of deaths data in Scotland is the General Register Office for Scotland (GROS).
