Population groups: overview

One way of considering health in populations is to look at different groups based on demographic and personal characteristics. The increasing diversity of the Scottish population has many positive aspects. Work on health inequalities has often focussed on socioeconomic inequalities, but there are also important inequalities related to the six diversity strands - age, gender, disability, religion ethnicity and sexual orientation.

At present this section considers the health of ethnic minorities and lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people.  Sections on other topics will be added in due course.
