Population groups: overview

Another way of considering health in populations is to look at different population groups based on demographic attributes. Age is an important parameter when considering health. The health of children for instance is worth special consideration because the sorts of diseases and health problems that children face can be very different to those of adults. At present this section considers the health of ethnic minorities. Sections on other topics will be added in due course.

The population of Scotland is characterised by increasing ethnic diversity, and ethnicity can influence health. The health of minority ethnic groups may influenced by different factors to populations from other ethnic groups, and so may be worthy of special consideration.
