| Document title: | The chance to work in Scotland |
|---|---|
| Description: | This note summarises the evidence on the importance of work to the health of individuals and their families in Scotland. It argues that lack of jobs, lack of work experience and qualifications, and personal circumstances (especially mental health problems and caring responsibilities) are the most plausible explanations as to why we have unemployment. Creating enough jobs in the right place and of the right kind, as well as investing in education, childcare and health condition management, are essential if this issue is to be tackled. |
