Social environment: key data sources
The Scottish Household Survey includes sections on local neighbourhood/community safety, social networks, disputes with neighbours, education & lifelong learning, recycling and volunteering.
The Census includes some data relevant to the social environment (e.g. household composition, social grade, educational qualification).
Statistics.gov.scot (which has replaced the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics website) includes some data on social environment related topics.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has a (archived, but still accessible) social capital guide which, among other features, includes details of the development of headline measures of social capital in the UK.
Specific data sources for Crime and Violence are available from those pages within this website.
Note also that some social environment related data (e.g. educational attainment, vulnerable households) are included within the Profiles pages.
